That’s right this was true. They did that because the copy machines tend to set fire too often. I think fire extinguisher is a little comfort to the user but this was the solution in those early days. Can you picture now your copy machine in flames? Can you picture your colleagues’ reaction - people in the office running and screaming, fire alarm ringing? Now a copy machine on fire will be a big issue. I old times they just used the fire extinguisher.
